Another Rajnikanth's movie? No, not exactly. This is Pasuppathy's movie. This is not the typical run of the mill movie that you would normally expect to come across and revolves around friendship. Rajni's screen time is less than an hour. I would expect some of our superstars fans to be a little disappointed. The climax is the backbone of the movie. It is very rare to see Rajni get emotional on screen, but in this one he does and so will everybody else who watches it. It makes you look at the relationship called "Friend" in a different perspective which we tend to take for granted. Unlike parents or relatives, you get to choose friends. And coming across a true friend in a materialistic world like ours is definitely not easy. The story of Rajni's character is almost the same as his, where his friend supported him throughout his film school when he himself wasn't doing that well and, expected nothing in return. Now that, is a true friend. When both Rajni and Pasupathy meet after 30 years, Pasupathy wants to hug the Rajni but hesitates. Seeing this hesitation Rajni takes the step forward. This was shot very well and shows the closeness between both the characters.
The background score is done beautifully by Prakash escpically the one when the titles come up at the start of the movie. Vadivelu's comedy is average and the presence of other comedians (Santhanam and Livingston did pretty well) compensated more than enough. Nayantara hardly mouths any dialogues, but I guess she was suppossed to look stunning and she did! Cinematography was done very well in the movie, colors looked vivid and rich. Pasupathy does more than enough justice to his role, easily one of his best performances. 'Charal' song was not necessary at all, seemed like it was forced in just for Nayantara.
All in all this is a different movie and I would say a must watch even with some of the glitches. This is my first blog, so please excuse any errors.
