Friends - An Analysis

I recently saw a Tamil movie called Kuselan. The movie revolves around friendship, which made me write this post on my experience and thoughts. I would say I am lucky to have great friends. Some of them are like family for me. Its funny when you look back at the time when you first met your friends and never had a clue that the person you are talking to is going to be one of your best buds for life.

I have noticed a weird trend, Might be it is just me. More of than not, between two friends (or any relationship) one has a upper hand (dominant) over the other. The one who does is more comfortable with the other since he mostly gets what he wants, but will find it hard to connect at a emotional level. The one who doesn't goes through the exact opposite. It is not our fault that we feel that way, since its hard for both people to feel the same way for each other. Kudos to friends who are not in this situation, but I think then they are not close enough.

But like I have always heard, relationships never stay the same. Some change for the good and some not. In my experience the primary reasons would be relocation or marriage. The former because communication would be hard especially if its overseas and latter because of significant other taking priority and later the kids. Technology has made it easier for us to keep in touch with the people we want which was not the case for our previous generation, who hardly are in touch with anybody from school.

Your love and affection for your friend or anybody for that matter has a limit. Anything in excess would only spoil the relationship. Its like holding water in your palm. As long as your let it be, the water stays. The minute you try to fold your palm to hold it tight, it spills.

There are people who are not in talking terms with their old friends because of some differences. In many cases both have too much ego to bow down or to accept the mistake. I would say if the other person does not apologize even though it is his fault, you should make the first move. Its not going to kill you right? At least then you know you tried to make it work. If it did not work, you can't help it.

Sometimes jealousness comes up not because of monetary or any other reason, but just the fact that another friend of your friend has taken away attention from you. It is human to feel that way, we can't help it. It's just better to leave it as it is than to fix it or try to get the other persons attention. If your friendship is true, your friend will come back to you.

There's no specific point of analysis in this post. Just random thoughts. So let your friends know that you care and do your best to hold on to them as they are your prized possessions!

Well written article. Agreed especially about the part of letting differences go by instead of holding them.

Thanks dude! I was little hesitant about this one since it had no sense of direction.
