If this term is mentioned in your company's website, basically means its all work, so no life which results in a imbalance. They intentionally forgot to put those prefixes. When the company says you are working full-time it again means, all the time and any time.
Life in the US (India is even worse) is getting worse in terms of work demands. Its an unsaid rule that you have to work overtime and if you don't do so, you are considered in-capable. Didn't they say 40 hours in the offer letter? Wish we could sue the companies for that. No wonder they don't pay full time workers by the hour, or else they would all have to shut down.
Companies think that they own us, so any demand apart from your life (which we don't have) is reasonable. Last week, I had taken a day off. And which day was it? Sunday! This is the case everywhere. People cannot make plans even on weekends since they don't if they will be working or not. And need permission to not work on Sundays? Now that's just plain ridiculous. I won't be surprised if you join a new company and they want you to start on a Saturday since they need resources badly.
People hardly get to meet their friends because of work demands but do meet their family since they live under the same roof. Some companies like mine do offer some kind of compensation. They offer one day off for every ten extra days you put in. You might say something is better than nothing, but nothing is better than nonsense. So on that day you are off, there will be some production issue which will require to go to work again anyways.
If you say that you like your job, do you hate Mondays? If your answer is yes, that means you don't like your job. Pretty much all of us don't like what we do. We just work because we have and need too. There are very, few very very lucky people who work on what they like, which makes work their hobby. Everybody would like to do that, but compromises are needed which, no one is ready to do.
What does this post conclude? Nothing. This is reality and we have to accept it!

Amen to this post. I've heard stories where people get saturated after crossing 25 to 30 years of work years and they just do enough to get by at that point. But now with aggressive work culture you reach that point in 2.5 to 3 years itself.
