We are born to save money

The recession has spread globally. When US is hit, there are two countries which will feel the heat right away. China would be the first. As everything from Louis Vuitton to Walmart products are made there. Next would be India since every Software Company in the world, has a back office there.

Chinese and Indians are the most money minded people. They can save money in places where other people can't even dream about. All the MNC's in India, till now were leading the most comfortable life till now. No questions were asked regarding expenses because everything was dirt cheap. The employees had all the perks.

Where do companies provide transport to and from the company in a luxury car? Where do companies give free food, all the time? Where do companies give 18 days of public holidays, apart from a one month vacation? Where do companies expect you to work 12 hrs on a normal day? Where are Toyota Corolla's considered luxury cars? Only in India.

The whole world is on a saving mode. Even the sun, shows up only once in a while. The headquarters soon started communicating over to India, to reduce their expenses. Once this was done, the Indian bosses went back to their roots and do, what they do best. Save.

Out went the luxury cars. Employees where asked to use their luxury cars and were given a monthly gas allowance worth $12. Food is free for now. They couldn't do anything about the holidays. Standard working hours were starting Monday 9 AM to Saturday 8 PM. They were asked to work from home, in the nights to save electricity for the company. No print outs were allowed until the CEO approved it. Unless of course, if they wanted to print money. So they removed all the printers in the office premises and, left a dot matrix printer at the CEO's office.

Chennai had a different sort of problem. They didn't have enough electricity to begin with. Here all the bosses went beserk. Companies were asked to shut down by 6:30 pm. AC's were switched off. People were given fans instead. One for every thousand, and were told to share it. Half the office lights were switched off. The management justified saying, it'll be compensated by the light coming out of the computer monitors. Later, they told to switch them off too.

One company went to the extent of banning toilet paper. Water was supplied instead. Another decided to seal half the toilets. Next came the layoff's. In other countries, they just choose the person with the least performance and higher pay. And, sent him home. But in India, everyone is as good as their counterparts and, all are paid around two peanuts. So they had a new strategy. The last ten people to enter the office will be sent home. The guy who suggested the idea was one among them. 

Bonuses were given to people, who suggested cost saving methods. End result was, it became even more outrageous. People being paid two peanuts were replaced with new people with pays, half of that. I think we need more Indians as CEO's or one among board of directors. We will trim down company expenses by more than half. There is a small problem though. We will corrupt the company from top to bottom.
