A Handbag you said?

The suburban train here can usually seat more around 100 people in the lower level alone, in a single car. But in my train, only 50 can sit. The rest of the 50 spaces are taken up by people's carry-on's. And a vast majority of these carry-on's are women's handbag's. Some even carry two of them.

Have you seen the size of these things? They are almost as big as the huge suitcases in your basement. Hand bag manufactures are making it bigger and bigger, every day. The average handbag now measures two feet by one feet, which is one-third the size of you. The other day at the airport, the airline guy asked a lady if she was going to check-in her handbag.

Size does matter and when you can buy something which can hold more stuff, then why not. My mom's handbag was a nightmare. I could never find anything she wanted me to get, from inside. It had a million zips. If her cellphone rang, there was no point looking for it. It stopped ringing by the time I found it. Even she wouldn't know which of the million zips had it.

The contents inside a purse could blow your mind. It will have keys to every lock the woman has access to, pens, pins, earrings, rings, another purse, credit cards, cellphone (more than one), books, CD/DVD, lunch box, laptop, charger, sun glass, lens case, lipstick (the entire color spectrum), lip gloss, lip balm, gum, moisturizer, powder makeup, eye liner, nail filer, ipod, earphones, hair clips, hair bands, shoes, compact mirror, gloves, scarf, deodorant, tissue, receipts, boyfriends/husbands (wallet, cellphone and keys), car, etc. Which is basically, half the house.

Men's wallets are on the verge of exploding too. If you ask a guy to sit on cushion less chair, his will almost surely be leaning towards the left. Thanks to his wallet. These are now almost three inches think. It will have all the credit cards he doesn't use and, all the store cards he got to get a 15% discount and his first wife's picture. And the wallet is never in a good condition. It will be torn or ripped somewhere or the other. When we stuff a million cards in there, no wallet can stand it. 

I think an unorganized women, would take anywhere between 5 minutes and two days to find anything in her hand bag. Normally people take stuff which they think, they might need. That's why we have all the crazy stuff in there. 

You might ask, why on earth am I talking about a women's handbag when I don't have to carry one at all. An average handbag today weighs about 10 pounds. And that weight, when lurking from your shoulder will cause back or shoulder injury. If you don't have one today, you will have tomorrow for sure. Doctors suggest, that the weight stay below 3 pounds. The handbags alone weigh more than that.

Looking at the stuff in the bag, we won't need anything apart from credit cards, keys and cash on a daily basis. So half the house, can be left in the house itself. Even men carry 10 pound bags with their laptops (only) in it. But more often than not, it is a backpack. Weight is more evenly distributed, so less chances of injury. They do not carry it when they are not working, but women carry it along with them every time they leave the house. I do not blame them, since they need it. But I think its high time, those bags lost some weight.

And as related to men. Please use your front pocket to fix the alignment issue. And the people on my train, don't keep your carry-on's beside you unless you bought two tickets.
