I must warn everyone that this post might involve a few advices, a little preachy, philosophical, over the top etc. This morning when I left for work, like usual I came across some idiots who cannot drive for nuts. Like for instance puttering on the fast lane at 2 mph, just enough for the ants crawling beside to overtake.
Usually, I overtake on the wrong side, and brake in front of him. One reason is to show him that he/she is wrong and better off taking the bus or walking it, instead of driving. The other reason is pure and raw revenge. You pinch me, I stab you policy. But today, I decided not to bother educating that person, and just drove along. This behavior could be attributed to the book I am reading currently.
By not reacting, I had a different sort of feeling. A peaceful feeling as I could control myself. I strongly believe in one of the email chains I has received before. I am not sure if I have written about this. Anyway here goes. It talked about a 90/10 policy. 10% is what God has written in the script for you. Which are the stupid things that happen in our day to day life. In other words, George Bush becoming a president. 90% is how we react to it. Which was the shoe that was thrown at Bush.
Another ad also comes to my mind. I again apologize if I have already mentioned this before. A VW beetle stops for a pedestrian to cross. The pedestrian appreciates the gesture and in turn holds the door for another person to enter the store. The other person in turn helps another. The cycle goes on and finally the same person in the VW beetle is helped, and the person waits for the beetle to pass. This shows that good deeds helps everyone and is very very contagious. It also shows that the VW Beetle's driver rather stop, than drive that horrible car.
In today's world, everyone is so keen on revenge. Tit for tat. The freedom of speech has turned into verbal war. One person says one thing and everyone reacts to it like it is the end of the world. No one stops to think about the reasons behind a persons act.
Like this morning. The person would have been driving slow, since he/she was lost. Or, could have had a crying baby in the back. Or, could be in deep thoughts about something important. There could be millions of reasons. And I could have made it worse by cutting that person off the road. Whoever said revenge is sweet, should have also mentioned that it leaves a very bad after taste.
In a similar manner, it doesn't take me more than a millisecond to get pissed off with someone I am close to. Be it family or friends. And every single time I have found myself to have over reacted, and been mad for no reason at all, after having found out the actual cause. Always ALWAYS give the other person a benefit of doubt. I can't stress that anymore. A calm and happy state of mind would show on one's face, also when one interacts with other people. Sadly a pissed and upset state of mind also shows out equally.
We live life only once. Yesterday's history, tomorrow's mystery, only today is reality. Leave troubles behind live life to the fullest. Spite does no good. It will come back to you someday. Only harder and stronger. But this doesn't mean one bit, that I stop making fun of Bush.

Very true Jas. Never raise your hand or your voice.
Many a time, the person driving the car real slow is an old man or a lady. Yes, they probably should not be driving, but with the lack of public transport or sometimes the distances one has to walk to it, they hve no option but to drive.
I always give them the benefit of doubt.
PS: Are you ok? Sudden change in tone on this post :P
Yes I agree with that..
Yeah I am fine :) ... thats why I tried to make the visitors mentally set by putting a disclaimer in the beginning...
Once in a while I try to write a thought provoking post :)

You know what they say...
Judge not, lest ye be judged yourself!
I agree entirely with what ur trying to say man, even to put one's self in the other man's shoes would save this world a lot of wasted energy!
Jas Bhai, very apt post. It just takes a little common sense on our part to not make someone else' day bad. In fact, we can by our gestures make it good. Keep it up,Sire.
Yes, you are correct. Thank you Sir :)
