Its been almost seven years since I set foot on the land of opportunities. I wanted to go back the day I landed here, thanks to the 6 inches of snow and 40 mph winds which welcomed me. It was so cold that even polar bears would die. But in a matter of days one gets used to it.
Not only the weather, but you change and get used to many different things. Like in a water fountain, the Americans decided to make the water go upwards. The lever in a door is always below the key hole. Just to be different from others. Similar to what Apple does. And I don't think all these changes make it any easier for people. Try drinking some water from one of those stupid fountains and you'll know what I mean. The first time I tried, my roommate thought I had a shower with my clothes on.
When it comes to change, people do change a lot. The Desi's desperately try to change their accent. One is because they are trying to be cool. Another, is so that the Americans can understand them. Well, the second kind of backfires. The Americans still don't understand them. And thanks to the confused accent, even his fellow Desi's don't understand them anymore. The word 'dude' is in every Desi persons vocabulary. The other change is the obvious. They'd put on a million pounds.
Despite the wardrobe change, accent change, hair style change, etc, they wouldn't stop eating Indian food, watching Indian movies, cricket etc. No matter what one does, they will always be connected to their roots. Except for ABCD's of course. Their roots are connected to US, India and cheese pizza. Similarly, British will always do slap stick comedy. Italians will always be passionate about cars. Australians will always be idiots. Indians given an option, would bribe or farm.
This brings us to the latest sensation on Facebook. Farmville. A few months before I used to see all these stupid cartoon pictures of farms and, receive ducks and pigs as gifts. So one day I decided to start playing the game. You don't need more IQ than Paris Hilton to play. Buy seeds, sow and then harvest them later. This would explain why more than 11 millions users flock to their virtual farms everyday. The more you harvesting you do, the more progress you make in the game.
For one, its very addictive. You always come back to the game since the crops would dry out if you don't harvest them on time. After you harvest, you sow more seeds. That means you will have to come back again. And again. The guy on the farm is too slow to do whatever I tell him to do. I don't know what he's been smoking, but it takes him a decade to sow, plow and harvest the entire farm. And I am not kidding, I have to click at least 1200 times to sow, plow and harvest. For a regular user, that's the number of times he would click in a year. And doing that on a lousy Dell touch pad, takes its toll on my wrist. Doing that every day certainly takes the fun out of the game. You might ask me to use the Farm vehicles. But those seem to drink more fuel than a Hummer. Which means, they are out of gas even before I start using them.
Going to higher levels in normal games generally gets harder and harder. But in Farmville, it just takes longer and longer. A leap year would go by, before one could go from level 25 to 26. I played it for a couple of weeks and in the end I just quit because of these annoyances. People harvest in crops which take longer to grow so that it isn't too taxing for them. That would just take longer and I would just die before I head into level 26. Besides one can get bored of doing the same things over and over again unless they are redecorating their Farm aimlessly.
No matter what I say this is a fun way to Farm, sitting comfortably on your couch. As for me, I will get back to Farmville if they come up with a way to change 1200 clicks into one.
