Footwear has been around for a long time. When I say long, it means 10,000 years. That's the age of the oldest footwear discovered till date. They could have existed even before that, but probably decomposed by now. Footwear is considered as fashionable by some, referred to as an insult by few and in some cases used as self defense (Try getting hit by 6 inch heel and you'll know what I am talking about).
Today there are thousands of styles of footwear available. Out of them, one seemed to catch my attention. Not in a good way of course. And that would be Crocs. The sales of this shoe/sandal/whatever has more than doubled each year and is extremely popular. Just look at the people on the street, and at least one in five people will be wearing them. It is considered to be the most the comfortable footwear ever.
I can't deny with that or else people wouldn't be buying it, like they are right now. And no one can deny that they are the most ugliest looking things ever made. It looks hideous, pathetic, ridiculous, funny (not in a funny way), stupid, dumb. I haven't even used so many superlatives even for a Corolla before. I generally stay at least 10 feet away from people wearing Crocs to avoid seeing it accidentally. That 'thing' looks at home only when a clown wears it. Which would mean someone, has to gift a pair of Crocs to Ghulam Nabi Azad.
This clown has been in the news lately. For the wrong reasons. He wants all the villages to have electricity. Now that's a good thing, but not the motive behind it. He says, with electricity people will watch TV in the night and not make babies instead. And also says, people procreate since they have nothing else to do. I don't know what Mr Ghulam has been smoking, but it doesn't make sense. Not even one bit of it. Even George Bush can figure that out.
I see too many flaws in it. I think the population will only increase. The villagers will want to watch FTV and hot hot movies. And tempt them to have affairs too, while the guys wife is busy watching Ektha Kapoors serials. By the way making villagers watch Ektha Kapoors serials is not a good idea. Why doesn't Mr Ghulam 'Smarty Pants' Azad think of educating the villagers about contraception instead of showing them Midnight Masala? And the benefits of having two kids versus 2 million. Its not that they are dumb, they are not just aware.
If that wasn't enough, the clown also suggested marraige after the age of 30. He says that will control population explosion. Yes, since the success of birth rate falls drastically beyond the age of thirty. Just because he couldn't find a girl till he was thirty, he expects rest of India to do the same. That would again mean more illicit relationships.
Population is a serious issue in India.I have heard of funny comparisons. The number of TVs there is more than the population of US. The number of Dish antenna's is more than the population of UK. But this is a serious issue and, has to be fixed. India is just 1/3rd the size of US, but has 10 times the people. Yes, China has a bigger population/problem. But the Govt will shoot you down, if they hear you are going to be a father/mother of a third child. In India that method can't implemented. Creating awareness is the only way. Tell Amitabh Bachan or Rajnikanth to appear in ads saying the same, and people will follow them blindly. Oh wait, they need a TV for that.
We need electricity for sure, but Ghulam's population control plan will certainly not work. But this might. Just give all the women folk a pair of Crocs!
